About

I’m Stephen Moon. I’m 67 years old, living in North London with my wife Mish, a photographer and artist. This blog is about what happens when you step out of a high-intensity career and ask, what now? It’s about building physical strength, emotional resilience, and a meaningful life—at any age, but especially in life’s fourth quarter.

I’ve spent nearly 30 years in the sports nutrition and functional health world, and a lifetime trying to outrun the health legacy of my family history. So yes, you’ll find me in the gym most days, nerding around tracking VO2 max and the like, lifting with intention, and rebelliously running again after a 25-year hiatus and multiple knee injuries. It turns out, many assumptions about aging—and about risk—are wrong. I write about that here.

But this blog is not just about fitness.

I’m also exploring how music, travel, culture, and conversation can expand our lives. I believe in the soul-building power of live music and in talking to strangers. I play the the bass guitar so-so, play chess badly, keep planning to learn Italian, and carry an enduring curiosity about how to stay mentally sharp, emotionally balanced, and spiritually open as the years roll on.

Professionally, I led a long corporate life before pivoting into start-ups and growth companies. For over a decade, I was CEO of Science in Sport, helping transform it from a kitchen-table brand into one of the leading endurance nutrition companies in elite sport. That journey was intense, fulfilling—and exhausting.

In late 2023, after a near-death cycling accident and a growing sense that I wanted more life, not just more work, I stepped away from the CEO grind. I now split my time between board roles, writing, and coaching. I’m particularly proud of my coaching practice, which is grounded in my qualification in Clinical Organisational Psychology from INSEAD and years of mentoring senior leaders through challenge, growth, and change.

This blog reflects all of that: the athlete, the coach, the entrepreneur, and the evolving man behind it all. Some of my challenges are physical, some emotional, and some existential. I don’t always finish what I start. But I set the bar high and I show up with honesty.

If you’re curious about longevity, mindset, meaning, and movement—welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
